Fall 2025 Beauty Trends: Makeup and Hair from Paris Runways to Real Life

Fall 2025 beauty is proof that runway looks no longer stay backstage. From Paris to Seoul, this season feels wearable, modern, and still aspirational. Independent hair and makeup artist Yiqing (aka QQ), known for her work with influencers, celebrities, and TV commercials in Singapore, with a background in Seoul, and international campaigns with Dior and Bvlgari, shares her lens on the glam trends. From Dior’s accent liner to Balmain’s velvet skin, she explains how details travel from shows to sidewalks, and what will matter most this season.

Writing this column feels like a new chapter. What excites me most is how runway beauty has shifted; it’s no longer about perfection under the lights, but about how those ideas filter into real life. I’ve seen it happen on campaign sets, on covers with faces like Xenia Tan and Shawn Thia, and even here in Singapore, where the smallest tweak in texture or finish can change everything in the humidity. That’s the perspective I’ll bring here: how high-fashion beauty translates into something you can actually live in.

Runway Highlights

This year’s fall runways made me realise how wearable high-fashion beauty has become.

At Dior, Peter Philips’s accent liner stood out, creative, but still something you could imagine wearing outside of cameras and lights. At Balmain, Diane Kendal’s velvet skin was another favourite, with a matte, velvety base and just a touch of sheen on the high points. At Chloé, the soft waves felt like a true Fashion Month highlight, not the usual beachy waves, but something softer and intentional.

And in Seoul, Omin Beauty’s peach-pink blush paired with a contemporary sleek updo at Big Park’s show inside the historic Heungchensa Temple was breathtaking. Modern, but also timeless in that setting.

From Shows to Sidewalks

Take a step back, and you’ll notice inspiration from these looks showing up in daily life. No, people aren’t walking around in full runway makeup. But there are hints everywhere.

A glossy lip turns into a tinted balm. Sculptural braids become simpler braided hairdos. Here in Singapore, beauty feels more practical, we take what we love and make it work in humidity and day-to-day life. Over in Seoul, there’s more of the “drunken” blush look and soft blurred lips, like the runway condensed into something you could actually wear outside.

That is what I love about trends. They may start on the runway, but each city and each person takes what works for them and makes it their own.

Fall Forecast

Looking ahead to the September shows, I think we’ll see beauty swing in a darker direction,  the way it always does when summer turns into autumn. After months of sheer, glowing looks, fall naturally brings back richer, matte finishes. Espresso brown eyes, burgundy nails, Nude and Crimson lips will take the spotlight.

But instead of the clean luxury we’ve seen in recent years, I expect a modern take on grunge, something moody but still refined, like Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday press tour looks.

Likewise, I sense a return to full lipstick. Classic, pigmented formulas in matte or satin, the kind you actually swipe on from a bullet, the way we all used to before 2020. It feels right that fashion is moving back towards that kind of statement lip.

Key Beauty Looks to Try This Fall:

  1. Toasty makeup: Warm honeyed tones that flatter in both daylight and evening.
  2. Cloud skin: A soft-matte finish with glow from within; never flat.
  3. Berry lips & cheeks: Shades from soft cranberry to deep plum.
  4. The full lipstick comeback: Bold, bullet formulas in nutty nude, berry, or crimson.

At the end of the day, like the people wearing them, beauty is always on the move. What we see on the runway is only the beginning, and the most exciting part is watching how these looks transform once they hit the streets.

And this is just the start. I’ll be back here to explore what’s next, from backstage whispers to the beauty shifts shaping our region. I can’t wait to see how this column grows, and to share more of the trends and details that inspire me along the way. Stay tuned!
